Children's Violin Group, Leeds

The Children's Violin Group is ideal for young violinists aged about  8-10 who are under Grade 1 standard and currently learning from Fiddle Time Joggers or a similar book for beginner violinists.  In a fun "group learning" environment which is complementary to individual lessons, beginner violin

£50 per block of 5 sessions, payable in advance

students are introduced to a wide range of musical activities, including lots of fun games to improve intonation, rhythm, music theory and overall musical ability, as well as an introduction to playing folk music and simplified classical pieces.

£6.90 per session; block of 5 payable in advance

Leeds Folk Fiddle Group

Iveta Hlavenkova is the leader of the Leeds Folk Fiddle Group, which plays Irish, Scottish and English traditional folk music, together with American country and other styles such as jazz, blues and ragtime.  New members are welcome based on an informal audition.  Grade 1 violin and the ability to read are the minimum requirements.  For more information, please see the Leeds Folk Fiddle Group web site.

Most students who want to learn the violin enjoy playing with other student violinists. Iveta Hlavenkova organises many opportunities for students to play together, including music groups which are are open to all violin students, not only those who are learning with Iveta.
