Concerts

Learning to play the violin paves the way to start enjoying the pleasures of making music with others. From the very start of their musical journey, Iveta Hlavenkova encourages her violin students to obtain experience at performing with other players.

Iveta organises regular concerts at the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama, Leeds, at which her violin students meet up and spend a pleasant afternoon making music together, with parents and friends as a supportive audience.

Potential violin students and their parents are very welcome to attend Iveta's student concerts, and they also offer the opportunity to chat to Iveta and her violin pupils about learning the violin.

Orchestras and Ensembles

Iveta Hlavenkova's violin students are also offered the opportunity to play in her country ensemble, alongside pianist Matthew Lazenby and other instruments including banjo, guitar and percussion. The ensemble performs regularly in aid of Hope Pastures, playing a variety of traditional music.

As well as performing in the concerts and ensembles which Iveta organises herself, she also encourages her adult violin students to join other music-making ensembles such as the YLSS which meets weekly in West Park, Leeds, and also Players for Pleasure which meets for occasional events at various locations in Leeds. Both these groups are open to all levels of player from beginner to advanced, and Iveta enjoys playing violin with both groups herself.

Iveta is also a member of the first violins section of the renowned Leeds Symphony Orchestra, under the directorship of Martin Binks.
